Under the artistic responsibility of curator and artist Gwen van den Bout, the new exhibition program 'The Future Has Many Histories' started in mid-July 2021, where contemporary artists respond in their own way to social themes surrounding past-present-future. The participating artists are invited to create work that relates to the specific (geographical, historical and geological) environment and conditions of Schouwen-Duiveland, more specifically ‘De Kop van Schouwen’. ‘The Future Has Many Histories’ addresses interpretations of archaeology, cultural heritage, (non-linear) history and the current and speculative impact of the Anthropocene on (future) archaeology and geology. The works can be seen in both the Bewaerschole and outside in the form of a sculpture route. She asked 13 selected artists to provide a solo exhibition in the Bewaerschole but also to make a work of art for the village in the public space. This makes the connection possible from inside to outside, and vice versa.
